On September 13th, after an outstanding softball season, the East Meadow Fire Department Meadowlarks softball team won the Town of Hempstead fire service softball championship.
After going 20 wins and 4 losses in the regular season, EMFD found themselves in the finals up against a very tough Valley Stream Fire Department team in a best 2 of 3 series.
In both games, East Meadow’s most athletic firefighters demonstrated outstanding fielding, smart base running, and superior power at the plate.
In Game 1 the Meadowlarks won by a narrow margin of 4-3. Game 2 the Meadowlarks took by a score of 10-4.
At the end of the tournament the Meadowlarks were presented with the Championship trophy much to the applause of the East Meadow FD families and friends in attendance.
Softball has been a part of the East Meadow Fire Department for 50 years. Congratulations Meadowlarks for a fine season.
