East Meadow

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the newly re-constructed website of the East Meadow Fire Department. It is my hopes that you visit us often.

The East Meadow Fire District, which covers East Meadow as well as parts of Levittown and Westbury, spans over 7.5 square miles. Our 230 members respond from five fire stations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. In 2021, the East Meadow Fire Department responded to well over 1500 calls for help from our community.

Your East Meadow firefighters, EMT’s, and Paramedics stand ready 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to resolve your emergencies. We invite you to navigate through our website, learn more about the men and women who are there for you, and be proud to know such a strong organization exists within our town.

On April 4, 2022, our department reached its 92st anniversary milestone in protecting our community. It is my honor to lead an organization of such rich history.

Elected as your Chief of Department, I look ahead with great pride to lead our department in the highest of tradition of those Chiefs before me.

As I begin my term as Chief of the Department, I look forward to the challenges before me, working with my Assistant Chiefs Philip Fertitta, James Walsh, and Michael Wood, to continue the outstanding work of the men and women of our great organization. Together, our Chiefs have a combined volunteer career of more than 100 years, and will collectively respond to nearly 2,000 emergencies this year.

These years are more of a challenge that many before with the Pandemic, however we remain confident in our scientists and healthcare professionals who are truly heroes as we continue to see a rise in vaccinations, and a decline in the more dangerous strains of Covid-19. During all this, we have endured so many changes in our organization, and found so many new ways to protect our community. For this, I thank our membership for their cooperation in following countless important mandates, maintaining safe responses and attending various new trainings, all the while continuing to maintain the level of expertise in the Fire and EMS work we perform everyday.

It is my hope to continue to keep this community, and our members, as safe as humanly possible. But we need your help… Please continue to heed all warnings and instructions from our health professionals in the State of New York, as well as all CDC guidelines as they are announced from our nation’s top medical professionals.

In our site you will find everything from a community calendar, to fire prevention education, to the latest news, old news, and how to become a member. Please look often as our site changes frequently.

With the warmer weather now upon us, we have added important seasonal information you should know about. We urge you to review this content to increase your personal safety and that of your loved ones.

We hope you enjoy our website and get a better picture of us, your community, and what you can do to keep your family safe. On behalf of my Assistant Chiefs, Phil, James, and Michael, as well as the proud men and women of our department, we thank you for visiting our website and hope you visit again soon.
