Dear Residents,
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the website of the East Meadow Fire Department.
The East Meadow Fire District, which covers East Meadow as well as parts of Levittown and Westbury, spans over 7.5 square miles. Our 230 members respond from five fire stations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. In 2024, the East Meadow Fire Department responded to well over 1500 calls for help from our community.
Your East Meadow firefighters, EMT’s, and Paramedics, stand ready 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to resolve your emergencies. We invite you to navigate through our website, learn more about the men and women who are there for you, and be proud to know such a strong volunteer organization exists within our town.
On April 3, 2025, our department reached its 95th anniversary in protecting our community. It is truly my honor to lead our organization through this milestone year.
Elected as your Chief of Department for 2025-2026, I look ahead with great pride to lead our department in the highest of traditions of those Chiefs before me.
As I begin my term as Chief of the Department, I look forward to the challenges before me, working with my Assistant Chiefs Kurt Becker, Jeffrey Rosenthal, and John O’Brien Jr, to continue the outstanding work of the men and women of our great organization. Together, our Chiefs have a combined volunteer career of more than 80 years, and will collectively respond to nearly 2,000 emergencies this year.
I would like to thank our officers and members all their support and cooperation to keep our members safe, and well trained, while stepping up more than ever before, in protecting our residents. A special thanks to my amazing wife Caryn, my son Firefighter Michael Wood, my son Joseph, my brother Ex Captain Daniel Wood, and my own Engine Company 3, the “Pride of the Meadow” for all their love and support through my journey.
At our website you will find everything from a community notifications, latest fire and EMS news, and our calendar, to fire safety and prevention education, to the latest news, old news, how to become a member, to the weather, and our new Kids Zone with safe videos games and interactive fun that pertain to fire safety.
