Happy Holidays from East Meadow Fire Department

With the 2024 holiday season in full swing, the time came for East Meadow volunteers to hit the streets to spread holiday cheer throughout our community.

Over the past few weeks so much has been done with Santa Runs by several companies, including Engine Company 2s annual Santa sleigh run with stops throughout our town.

In November members joined with Stew Leonard’s to assist in handing out turkeys for any families in need.

On December 19th, members of the EMFD led by Ex Chief James Darcey, made their way to the NUMC Pediatric Ward with gifts from their Annual Jimmy Martino Memorial Toy Drive program for the children, who otherwise, may not be home for the holidays. Along with Ex Chief Darcey were a host of EMFD members dressed in costumes ranging from the Grinch, Buddy the ELF, the snowman, and the big man in red. It was the 28th year of this program.

At any given point, all of East Meadow’s 7 companies were engaged in the true holiday spirit in one way or another with Santa runs of their own by Engine 1, Engine 3, and Ladder 1, tree lightings by Engine 1, Engine 4, Ladder 2, and Rescue 5.

A great tradition that truly demonstrates the love our firefighters and Medical Technicians have for our communities.

Busy as they are, the time to share a smile with our community was as important to our members, as it was for our community.

We are grateful for the men and women of our East Meadow Fire Department who give so much of themselves, but even more during the holidays.

On behalf of the Chief’s Office, the Board of Fire Commissioners, and the volunteers of the East Meadow Fire Department, we wish you a happy, healthy, and safe holiday season, and all the best for 2025.
