On September 16th, the East Meadow Fire Department marched proudly through the streets of Wantagh for the annual 6th Battalion Firefighter’s Parade.
As thousands lined the parade route, members in full dress uniform with polished fire apparatus marched by.
In the end, the Nassau County Firefighter Pipes and Drums band led by East Meadow’s own Ex Chief Robert V Hughes, would win 1st place for the Best Appearing Musical Unit, while the EMFD Junior Fire Company won 2nd place.
It was a great night for all as members celebrated what will likely be Ex Captain Dave Paganini’s final parade as he plans to move in the near future.
Ex Captain Paganini, a 21 year member of Engine Company # 2, will be sorely missed in our department and community.
Just prior to the parade, members gathered to recognize and honor Dave for his 21 years as commander of the color guard. Always the highlight of our Department’s pride in displaying our nation’s colors.
Congrats, Dave, for another job well done.
